Tony Minvielle

A musical journeyman who in the last 30 years as a broadcaster, dj and writer has worked with, interviewed, and received plaudits from some of the worlds musical legends including Curtis Mayfield, Roy Ayers, Mark Murphy, Gregory Porter, Jazz Warriors, Gil Scott Heron, India Arie, Guida De Palma, Galliano, Omar, Weldon Irving, Jon Lucien, The Roots, Incognito, Maceo Parker, Jazzanova, Zara McFarlane, Avery Sunshine, Jose James and many many others.

He emerged from the 70’s/80’s London soul/ jazz scene to establish a home for the scene in the Midlands of the UK including the now legendary Mosquito Coast sessions. His residencies have included Londons Jazz Cafe, Phoenix festivals, Atlanta’s Ying Yang, and a magical session at Ibiza’s seminal Cafe Del Mar.

At this time he joined Straight No Chaser magazine at its inception until its final publication 15 years later. He was based in Atlanta USA spreading the musical message via Cafe Ying Yang and playing a part in launching the careers of India Arie and Anthony David. From there he moved to Poland on the same mission.

On return to the UK he became one of Gilles Petersons Worldwide Family and was featured in Mark ‘Snowboy’ Cotgroves acclaimed publication ‘FROM JAZZ FUNK & FUSION TO ACID JAZZ: THE HISTORY OF THE UK JAZZ DANCE SCENE’ as one of the pioneers of this scene.

Writing/ broadcast credits include Straight No Chaser magazine, JazzFM, Virgin Radio, 3RRR’s Melbourne and WCLK Atlanta. He now hosts the seminal radio show FoldedSpace on SoulandJazz.com along with JazzFm’s Chris Phillips and Mike Chadwick, Italy’s Live TF, Atlantas Scott Fugate and Japans Takegorou (Room 56) and he now has fans who hail from as far afield as Japan, Brazil, Asia, America and Africa.
His one aim – to share beautiful music with all who will listen.
